Wooden Shoe Forms

I had a "shoe day" at an antique show a little while ago, picking up these 6 forms after previously deciding I wanted to find some for display purposes. When it rains, it pours! The tiny ones are a rare find.
This little shoe is 92!

3rd Blogiversary: Leather Shoes

The traditional gift for 3rd anniversaries is leather. Hence, I have decided to celebrate my favourite piece of leather, my shoes, which I have worn pretty much constantly for 3 years. I found the lovely pair at Value Village for $12.99. Ironically, a week later, I happened to see the exact same pair in my size, but I passed them by since I had just bought mine and I didn't realize how much I would grow to love them. Ultimately, they are a metaphor for something that means more than fashion.
I replaced their laces with sheer ribbons, which have surprisingly held up for the 3 years!
These guys have been to Toronto, Montréal, Québec City, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, many an antique show, and so on! They have been covered in mud, but they just brush off and acquire a pretty patina.
They are obviously durable, and have aged beautifully. They are so soft now, and have comfortably molded to my feet. These shoes also look good with both pants and dresses, and, best of all, I can walk forever in them.
I hope someone else owns that other pair of these shoes and is loving them. This all to say that quality is what to strive for, because quality lasts. A life surrounded by good, positive, enduring things is gorgeous. Thank you for 3 years of readership--here's to many more years of loveliness!

Quick Tip: DIY Sheer Shoelaces

Why settle for dull opaque shoelaces when you could have unexpectedly pretty sheer ones?
Materials:
Tape
Scissors
Shoes in need of better laces
Sheer ribbon in the color of your choice
Step 1: Remove the old laces from your shoes, and cut two lengths of ribbon the same size as the laces.
Step 2: Tightly wrap a piece of tape around each ribbon end to create an aglet.
Step 3: Lace up your shoes with your new sheer ribbon shoelaces and enjoy the cuteness!

Scallop Fabric Winner

Oh my, what an unexpectedly wonderful surprise--an update for my previous post! My Scallop fabric won the contest! I am in a state of excited shock! Scallop is now up for sale by Spoonflower and is being turned into a collection of shoes, along with the three other winning fabric designs, by Milk and Honey. I will be sure to post a picture of the shoes when I get them in the mail. Thank you so, so, so much to everyone who voted!

Scallop Fabric Shoes

This week's Spoonflower contest theme is small scale geometric prints specifically for shoes, so my Scallop fabric is in the running. If you like it, you can vote right here! On Wednesday the 25th, the fabrics with the most votes will be narrowed down by Milk and Honey (a great company that facilitates custom shoe design), and four designs will be selected to create a collection of shoes. What a great idea and opportunity!
