Sweet Vignette

A snapshot of a display on my shelf--I'm loving fruit and clear, splashy colour. If you get the "Go to England--make her smile" reference, you make me smile.

Tray Mod

I found this fantastic Mid-century Mod molded plywood tray tucked beneath some Tupperware at a thrift store.
The first thing I thought of when I saw the pattern was my fellow designer friend Ottomanbrim on Spoonflower, whose designs have the same fabulous flair.
The tray was made in Konga, Sweden, and the pattern may have been designed by Astrid Sampe, whose designs are still in production by Almedahls.

Pink Art Deco Swag Canister Set

My mom found this set of Art Deco style ceramic kitchen canisters, complete with salt and pepper shakers and a napkin holder. Originally, when she brought them home, I didn't like them as much as I do now, but their glossiness and draped shape have really worked their charm. I can just see them lovingly full of flour and sugar in some old lady's powder pink and yellow kitchen. That said, that old lady may be me some day! My favourite aspect is the gorgeous swag detail! So interesting!

Summertime Greige

Greige: a summery neutral!
Think sand, khakis, hot concrete, weathered wood, and crumbly limestone houses.

Thrifting Goodies and Collection

What's in my bag? Well, when I'm at thrift stores, antique fairs, and flea markets, it's the stuff above. My Thrifting Goodies design is in Spoonflower's What's in Your Bag challenge of the week. Here are the other designs in my Collection collection:

Daydreamer Plate

I found this little wall plate at a thrift store for $3 and love it with all my heart. The blue and white, birds and flowers, sweetly scripted poem, and quirky off-center hanging hole are what make it charming perfection. I wonder, did someone receive this as a gift from a dear friend going away?

Swingin' Poolside

This photo makes me chuckle. Serene supermodel Carmen Dell'Orefice is posed in a full eyelet skirt against a curly white patio set, striped umbrellas, and swaying Bahama palms; hip Mr. Norman Parkinson, fashion photographer, with his camera and moustache, leans into the picture with a smirk. Ha! A little humour for a well-framed glamour shot.
