I found this beautifully illustrated vintage edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri at a local thrift store for $0.50! It doesn't have a copyright date on the inside, but it looks like it's from the 1960s or '70s.

It was illustrated by Roberta Macdonald and, apparently, coloured by a creative reader! 

I've yet to read this classic, so I'm happy to have acquired a pretty version of it to read.

Always Tomorrow

Decorative Acorns

Why are acorns so darn cute? I've been painting them, covering them in velvet, and stuffing loose caps with colorful felted balls for some seasonal displays.

This is my design for Spoonflower's palette-restricted Hiking challenge of the week. Palette-restricted challenges are always super fascinating because of the numerous different ways the participating designers use the palette. Sometimes the designs look sophisticated, or cheerful, or calming, and so on, based on the background color and which colors are used side by side. I've found that creating a pattern with interesting shapes and textures is what attracts attention in this case, since everyone is dealing with the same hues.
