Thoreau-ly Pumpkin

"I would rather sit on a pumpkin and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion."
--Henry David Thoreau
Ah, yes, Thoreau--I agree, but what about a pumpkin velvet chair all to yourself?
(I highly recommend Walden to hunker down and read in this cozy season and feel all kinds of waldeinsamkeit.)

Pumpkin Spice Blazer

Latest find! Rust velvet blazer for mere cents at the local thrift! To make this even sweeter, it's Marjorie Hamilton, vintage Canadian made. I'm drooling over the fact that I get to wear this!

Velvet and Pelt

My favourite part of IKEA has always been the AS-IS section. Oh those bins heaped with discounted textiles and that furniture with a bit of quirk! I recently found this deep green curtain panel for $15 and the iconic sheepskin for $20. The sheepskin I have draped over my desk chair and the velvet (hello, John Singer Sargent) I may end up using for a upholstery project down the road.

Peacockette

I've got 1920s glamour on the brain! I'm listening to '20s jazz while drawing Art Deco surface pattern design collections and then hopping out of my chair to go dance the Charleston in a fringy dress!

Prevailing Pastels

Ah, the enduring colors of shabby chic: "The tones of gray, pale turquoise and pink will prevail."

Decorative Acorns

Why are acorns so darn cute? I've been painting them, covering them in velvet, and stuffing loose caps with colorful felted balls for some seasonal displays.
