Ceylon Tin

I picked up a new tin for the collection! $0.25 at the local thrift store, of course. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the kelly green and laurel details? I love this example of contemporary packaging done beautifully!

Berried Treasure

My latest Value Village find: The Strawberry Tin, a.k.a the one that didn't get away!
I originally fell in love with this tin back in 2015, when I snapped this photo of it an an antique store on Île d'Orléans! (You can see the store in the photos of my Québec City adventure!) Alas I put it back on the shelf at that time, but it found its way back into my life, and the one I have now is actually in better shape than the first one I saw three years ago. Oh how I love circular thrifting moments such as this...a little humour for patience.

Strawberry Stuff

This is a pile of 3 generations' worth of strawberry themed goodness. My grandma's signature icon was a strawberry (she was a painter and had a strawberry on her business card), my mom has followed suit in collecting strawberry themed items, and I am also in love with the cheery summer fruit!
This is one of those fluke enduring cheer paintings...I painted it on a whim in an afternoon in 2009 and it still makes me smile. It shall be the new heirloom. Keep your eyes peeled for more strawberry stories...

Plaid & Peace

"Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." Luke 2:14

Bakeware

I see festive potential in this pile of bakeware! The shine and patina of the silver starbursts, swirls, and scallops...think wreaths, reflectors, candle holders, and ornaments.

Florida Sunshine

How cheery is this can of sunshine?! In the '80s my mom's friend went to Florida for spring break and brought this back for her. The can contains "48 average sniffs of pure Florida air" and the label offers a "suggested dosage: for daily pick me up, take two large sniffs before breakfast." Quite the novelty souvenir.

Tea Town

The intricate details, colour combinations, and metallic accents on tins thrill my soul, so I decorated my growing collection of tins for Christmas!

Recent Thrift: Delft Blue Tin

This appears to have been a cookie tin. The bottom is stamped: Dirk Eden--Fabrikation feiner Teegebäcke--Jever, Friesland. I love the painterly scene and the scalloped band around the bottom and lid.
