Work Bag

I found this vintage sewing work bag at a fabric rummage sale for $0.25. It's probably from the 1940s. I wonder how many garments were tossed in here and lovingly stitched back together. Make do and mend!

Forever Flowers

When I turned 7 I went to Michael's and spent all my birthday money on fake flowers...as you can see I'm still a fan of these perky plastic and silk blooms! These lily of the valley clusters look especially real, and they brighten up any room they fill! There's nothing like instant and constant cheer!

Sun and Daisies

My friend Tabytha made this lovely collage of a Katie Daisy quote. It's so cheery I had to frame it!

4th Blogiversary!

Appliances, fruit, flowers, linen, and silk are 4th anniversary gifts, so here are two new surface pattern designs celebrating those items! They are available in my shop as fabric (linen and silk are options of course), wallpaper, gift wrap (party time), cut-and-sew patterns, and homewares. I give you Smeg
and Strawberry Blonde. Thanks a bunch for 4 years of readership, and here's to the next years of creativity!

Cat Eye Glasses

I found these fabulous cat eye frames at Value Village for (wait for it) $3, had my prescription lenses put in them, and may have also taken a brush full of gold paint to the tips...hello, bespectacled '50s secretary joy!

Chair-aphernalia

I found this sweet postcard of a little boy poised next to some furniture and swiftly adopted him, as well as this copper and wood chair block from a printing press, both from a local antique store. The chair on which they sit was made by my great-grandpa, who created scale repro Early American doll furniture as a lucrative hobby.

On Pointe

These point shoes are an old pair from my ballerina cousin. They are so elegant and sweet.

Ladies

In the words of Anne Frank, "Who would ever think that so much went on in the soul of a young girl?" Happy International Women's Day, ladies! Keep on using your God-given talents and making your marks in history!

Mint and Gold Mirror

This vintage hand mirror is a glamourous thrifted find.
It is made of brass and decorated plastic, and likely hails from some time between the 1940s and 1960s.
