Great Joy

"An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'" Luke 2:9-11

Rushing Waters

I have been delighting in the abundant beauty of life this weekend! There is so much vibrant hope visibly (and invisibly) surrounding us through the enchantment that is springtime. He is risen!
"Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!" --Revelation 19:6

I'm thankful for the Creator and all the exciting, fascinating, dynamic beauty and He inspires.

Overcome with Good

I adore the hope of Easter in Christ! In moments when things are seemingly hopelessly flustered I praise Jesus for His beautiful truth, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Golden Treasure

I love the incised floral on this golden locket, a family heirloom. Inside it I have written Romans 8:38-39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." That fact is my greatest treasure, as it was for St. Patrick!

Reformed Floral

In reading about the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation (which is today!) I stumbled across this issue of Tabletalk and the cover caught my eye. The surface pattern design was created in 1617-9 by Italian artist Jacopo Ligozzi (1547-1627), who designed for pietra dura and embroidered textiles.

Steadfast Thanksgiving

I'm off to a Thanksgiving meal and am so grateful for God's steadfastness! "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. 'The Lord is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in Him.'" --Lamentations 3: 22-24

I took some time to be still and illustrate this verse. It calms my soul.

Enlightened Hearts

Buried Questions

Old graveyards intrigue me and cause me to ponder innumerable questions about past lives and secrets.

I could wander through the headstones for hours in retrospection.

My favourites are the tall, beautifully carved, white marble stones from the mid-1800s.

I'm especially fond of the ones that point to a life in Christ.

Feast of Praise

It thrills me to see God's plans unfold. "I will give thanks to the LORD because of His righteousness; I will sing the praises of the name of the LORD Most High." --Psalm 7:17
