Delft Charms

Much to my delight I found these dainty little charms at Michael's and am turning them into jewellery!

Blue Willow Study

Several years ago my mom painted this study of Blue Willow dishes, the dishes we had when I was little. Shortly afterwards she was consolidating some of her test paintings, painting over them or cutting them up (!), but saved this one. I love the blues and simplified shapes. It looks so fresh and free.

Pink Art Deco Swag Canister Set

My mom found this set of Art Deco style ceramic kitchen canisters, complete with salt and pepper shakers and a napkin holder. Originally, when she brought them home, I didn't like them as much as I do now, but their glossiness and draped shape have really worked their charm. I can just see them lovingly full of flour and sugar in some old lady's powder pink and yellow kitchen. That said, that old lady may be me some day! My favourite aspect is the gorgeous swag detail! So interesting!

Daydreamer Plate

I found this little wall plate at a thrift store for $3 and love it with all my heart. The blue and white, birds and flowers, sweetly scripted poem, and quirky off-center hanging hole are what make it charming perfection. I wonder, did someone receive this as a gift from a dear friend going away?

Subconscious Shopping Palettes

The other day I went to a couple garage sales wearing a dress of this lovely Liberty print. I bought these 4 teacups, and when I got home I realized how they as a whole strangely coordinated with the dress fabric.
That was not the first time that has happened to me; every time I shop I seem to have an unintentional colour scheme going with my purchases. So note to self: always be surrounded by beautiful (inspirational) things!
