Forever Flowers

When I turned 7 I went to Michael's and spent all my birthday money on fake flowers...as you can see I'm still a fan of these perky plastic and silk blooms! These lily of the valley clusters look especially real, and they brighten up any room they fill! There's nothing like instant and constant cheer!

DIY Pom-Pom Craspedia

Materials:
Embroidery needle
Wire for stems
Yellow yarn
Scissors
Fork
Step 1: Snip off a few inches of yarn and set it aside.
Step 2: Wrap the yarn from the ball through the tines of the fork, and then around the fork multiple times.
The more times you wrap it around, the tighter your pom-pom will be.
Step 3: Use the embroidery needle to pull the piece of yarn between the fork tines.
Step 4: Tie the wrapped bundle of yarn tightly in the middle.
Step 5: Slide the bundle of yarn off the fork and cut open the looped ends.
Step 6: Trim down the ends to make the pom-pom tight, and fluff it up as you go.
Step 7: Push the pom-pom onto the piece of wire.
Then find a cute vase for your bouquet!

Flower Crown Bust Vase

I love the elegance of classical busts so I made one out of clay, except this bust is also a vase.
After I hollowed out the head I added braids with strategically placed holes. Flower stems can be slipped in the holes to make it look like the bust is wearing a flower crown...to take it from elegant to whimsical.
I glazed the inside of the fired bust with clear glaze and the outside with snow white glaze.
Once it was fired again I filled it with flowers for an unexpectedly pretty display!

Thrifted Rose Painting

This vintage oil painting caught my eye at a church rummage sale. It was sitting next to the frames I was looking through and I kept glancing back at it. The pink, chartreuse, and mint green combo was too cheery to pass up, and the price, $0.50, made it all the more worthwhile. It has fantastic texture and is totally shabby chic! As an artist, I wonder who this talented "Lyon" person was--or is--what their other work is like, and if they loved this painting as much as I do. I adore scooping up lonely yet truly gorgeous art in my thrifting jaunts!

Peach Gerberas

When it comes to store-bought flowers, gerberas are one of my favourites. They are available in a variety of colors, last quite a while, and make an undeniably cheerful bouquet. These particular flowers started out a peachy yellow and then, after a few days, turned a delicate coral in their vase. I love to arrange fresh flowers into vignettes to liven up a room.
Their detail is stunning.

Candy Cane Carnations

My mom bought these intricately striped carnations and they totally remind me of candy canes.
See that refreshing resemblance? Clearly they make a festive bouquet.
