On this Royal Wedding meets Victoria Day weekend I am thinking about how many of my favourite things hail from Britain. Their decorating magazines and period dramas are impeccable, and the land seems to be inundated with exquisite upholstery manufacturers, surface pattern designs, picturesque gardens, fascinating architecture, artisans, historians, grand authors of literature...the list goes on. Plus, the accent...*swoon*

Victoria

Queen Victoria was one incredible lady. Aside from ruling a country for nearly 64 years, she was a mother of 9, a visual artist, and a prolific journal writer. Her passionate, determined nature is clear in reading her diaries. I've been loving the series Victoria, which brings aspects of her younger life to light...plus the costumes and sets are stunning and lavishly inspiring. Happy Victoria Day!

Vintage Louisbourg Pennant

I got this fun '60s or '70s felt pennant from an antique store shortly after my trip to Louisbourg.

Souvenirs

I enjoyed collecting a few souvenirs during the course of my trip. I got a postcard featuring a vintage cover of Anne's House of Dreams from Green Gables in PEI. The marble-base bust is from Urban Cottage Antiques & Collectables in Halifax--I chalk painted it Old White. The Fleurdelisé is from the antique store on Île d'Orléans.

My Crested fabric is in Spoonflower's Sandcastles challenge of the week! It features crests drawn in the sand surrounded by assorted beach paraphernalia.
