Fabrications

Shadow boxes are great art and decor pieces. I love how I can gather various items that fit a theme and arrange them in a frame to create multidimensional, mixed media art. As you can see here, I used some spools of brightly colored thread, thimbles, pins, and a swatch of my Fabulous '50s fabric. I turned wire into clothes hangers and a spool into a dress form. I embroidered some tulle and crisscrossed thread around the objects. Anything goes!

It's Later than You Think

It's definitely true that as I get older and older the years go by faster and faster. We're already coming up to Creatively Graceful's 1st Blogiversary! Here's my illustration of the lyrics to this plucky little tune (I can't listen to it without chuckling) to get you into a celebratory mindset. Woo!

Vintage is Always in Style

I made this shadow box to showcase some dainty items that represent my love for styles of days gone by. As you can see, it features vintage jewellery and textiles, designer paper, clipped printouts of Modcloth clothing, and magazine cutouts--that photo of a glamorous woman in front of a train is a Kohler toilet ad! Ha! This is one of my favourite types of art, because compiling themed scraps into a frame is like making a mini window display!

Threadless Design: Flower Face

This design, a collage I made using pressed flowers from my mom's garden, is one of the by-products of my Pressed for Time post. It's my second t-shirt design on Threadless, and is now up for voting right here in the Mixed Media Challenge!
