Décor Merchandising

I run a furniture store so basically I have a 10,000 sqft dollhouse to play with! 

The custom ordering and buying for the floor and vignette creating is pure bliss. I am passionate about high quality Canadian upholstery from manufacturers such as Décor-Rest, Stylus, and Brentwood. I source from mainly Canadian manufacturers and suppliers, bringing in pieces to the showroom that are unique, eclectic, and offer customers something fun and functional for their home. Buying for the showroom is an ongoing seasonal process, so I am always on the lookout for new items that merchandise and sell well. Here's a peek into my world. This is Décor-Rest sofa 2230 that I ordered in fabric Nebraska Brown with pillows Kilt Graphite and Lyon Grey. 

"What do you do?" Ah, what a question. Here's what I do behind the scenes to make vignettes like this happen. First, I select the manufacturer, frame style and covering from the thousands of possible choices. This is the Brentwood Baz sofa in leather Capetown Wolf with Espresso legs and Pewter nailheads, along with the Brentwood Balthazar collage chair and ottoman in leather Capetown Wolf and fabric Piece of Cake Flannel. I submit the order, and wait 4-12 weeks for the goodies to arrive. When everything arrives, I wander through the showroom gathering up all the pieces I want to use in my display. I move everything into place, hanging art, tucking in tags and fluffing pillows as I go, and inching items so everything looks perfectly balanced on the screen. Then I photograph the space, usually leaning awkwardly over the furniture in the next vignette. Then I take the image into Photoshop and work some more creative magic. Voilà!
