Splatterware Pan

Take a look at the intricate swirls and spots on this Splatterware pan. It's hard to say how old this particular pan is, but I've seen very similar ones from the 1940s, so that's my estimate.
The pattern in the enamel is mesmerizing!

Lace Denim

This old pair of jeans was sitting around and I decided to embellish them with some lace. Then I was trawling through the aisles at Value Village when this cotton lace cardigan caught my eye. It originally had big bell sleeves so I whacked them off and re-purposed them into embellishments for the denim. VoilĂ !

Love Laughs at Locksmiths

I bought this vintage handkerchief for $2 at a vintage clothing store for it's romantic, whimsical illustrations. It's probably from the 1950s. I did a little research about the verse and discovered that it is a proverb meaning love will find a way. It is derived from Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis, "Were beauty under twenty locks kept fast/ Yet love breaks through, and picks them all at last."
Happy Valentine's Day!

Laura Ingalls Wilder's 150th

The Little House on the Prairie books and TV show were a huge part of my childhood, and Laura's heartwarmingly simple descriptions will forever charm my imagination. I just read through this informative, picture-filled post, and this post about her faith, both in celebration of her would-be 150th birthday.
“As the years pass, I am coming more and more to understand that it is the common, everyday blessings of our common everyday lives for which we should be particularly grateful. They are the things that fill our lives with comfort and our hearts with gladness--just the pure air to breathe and the strength to breath it; just warmth and shelter and home folks; just plain food that gives us strength; the bright sunshine on a cold day; and a cool breeze when the day is warm.”
--Laura Ingalls Wilder (February 7th, 1867--Februrary 10th, 1957, age 90)

Lipstick Handkerchief

I found this embroidered handkerchief, likely from the 1950s, at a garage sale. I guess it exists so as not to destroy a white handkerchief with lipstick!
